In the Serra de l'Ombria, south of Ontinyent, two neighbouring spots are perfect for a day out in nature.
Fuset
An old farm turned into a picnic area, with tables and toilets (ask the town council for the keys). Four themed trails start here:
- Educational (about 7 km): information panels on lime kilns, an 18th-century aqueduct, the Font del Nano spring and the remains of an ancient yew tree.
- Panoramic (3 km): up to the cross, with wide views over the Vall d'Albaida, passing the sima Gran.
- Caving (under 4 km): two small, easily accessible potholes and the avenc Gran, 42 metres deep (caving equipment needed to go in).
- Hiking (12 km): lime kiln, Font del Nano, the Arcada aqueduct, Font de Gamellons and the avenc dels Caragols.
Font de Gamellons
A camping area with a spring that almost always flows, tables and barbecue spots, in a peaceful place with a great variety of plants.
- On foot: along the Ombria track, which starts on Carrer Carril next to the Santa Maria bridge (14 km, marked with two parallel blue lines).
- By car: take the CV-655 towards Fontanars; between km 8 and 9, turn left onto an unpaved track (sign "Senders de Fuset").
- Camping requires prior permission from the regional government.
