The Carmelite nuns' convent stands next to Santa Maria bridge (1942-1953), near the old road to Biar and Castile, Ontinyent's route inland.
What it's like
It is a 16th- to 18th-century monumental complex in fairly good condition that stands out within the town. Its church, from the 18th century, was badly damaged during the Civil War.
The street around it is named after it: Carrer de les Monges Carmelites.
Visiting
- You can admire it from outside on a riverside stroll.
- It's a step away from the Vila: crossing Santa Maria bridge you see the hanging houses above the Clariano river and the Santa Maria bell tower.
- The l'Ombria path to the Font de Gamellons starts nearby.
