Hiking

PR, SL and GR-7 trails through mountains and farmland: from the Pou Clar to Bocairent, the Fuset trails, the Font de Gamellons and the Sant Esteve viewpoint.

Ontinyent combines mountain scenery —the Serra de l'Ombria and the Serra Grossa— with wide farmland. The old paths that once led to springs, woodlands or neighbouring villages have been restored as waymarked trails that avoid roads and seek out the most beautiful spots.

Types of trail

  • PR (short-distance): routes of one or two days, marked in white and yellow.
  • SL (local trails): themed walks under 10 km (plants, culture, archaeology...), marked in white and green.
  • GR-7 (long-distance): part of the European E4 path, which runs from the Peloponnese along the Mediterranean to Gibraltar, marked in white and red.

Some ideas

  • From the Pou Clar to Bocairent: the PR-V 122 climbs through the Tarongers gorge along the Mills Route. Under an hour.
  • Fuset: four themed trails —educational, panoramic, caving and hiking— starting from the picnic area.
  • Font de Gamellons: from the Santa Maria bridge along the Ombria track (14 km, marked with two blue lines), then the SL-V 19 to the Font de la Duenya spring.
  • Sant Esteve hermitage: the most spectacular viewpoint over the valley, via the Camí de les Boles.

Tips

Bring water and suitable footwear, check the forecast on the Weather page and avoid the hottest hours in summer. The Tourist Office has the Por las sendas d'Ontinyent trail leaflet.
