In Ontinyent, Monday is market day: the Municipal Market and the weekly street market coincide, and the town fills with people from all over the district. Here are all the markets, with their days and times.
The Municipal Market
The traditional food market, right in the historic centre, with fresh, seasonal, local produce: fruit and vegetables, meat and charcuterie, fish, preserves, pickles and spices.
- Where: Plaça del Mercat, 1.
- When: Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays, 8:00 to 13:30.
- Best day: Monday, when it coincides with the street market and is at its liveliest.

The Monday street market
Every Monday morning, Plaça de la Coronació, in the Barranquet area, fills up with around 200 stalls over more than 1,000 m²: clothes, shoes, bags and accessories, flowers, home textiles and, in December, Christmas items. It's very close to the Municipal Market, so you can easily walk between the two.
Tip: go early, especially if you need to park. Monday is a working day, so the blue zone applies from 9:00 to 13:30. More in Parking in Ontinyent.
Some Sundays, at the fairground
On some Sunday mornings there is also a street market at the fairground (Avinguda del Benicadell). It isn't every week, so it's worth asking before you go.
La Fira, in November
La Fira has been the big market of the year since 1418: it takes place on the third Monday of November and the weekend before, with stalls selling all kinds of things and funfair rides. It has Regional Tourist Interest status and is the perfect time to try coca de fira, the local savoury flatbread.
The Medieval Market, in February
Every winter, Ontinyent Medieval brings more than 100 stalls of crafts and food to the Vila old town, with music and shows: a food area in Plaça Major and stalls in Plaça de Baix and the Regall. In 2026 it ran from 20 to 22 February. Each year's dates appear in the events calendar.
Seasonal markets
- Christmas Market: in December, in Parc Ausiàs March, with crafts, gifts and food. All in the Christmas guide.
- The Sant Antoni porrat: in January, during the Sant Antoni festival, the neighbourhood streets fill with stalls of traditional treats: roasted chickpeas, dates, palm hearts…
Something to take home
At the market you can pick up everything for an arròs al forn (oven-baked rice) or, in autumn, pebrassos, the local seasonal wild mushrooms. And since Ontinyent is the capital of Valencian textiles, blankets and home textiles make a good souvenir.
